KELLY LEHR has been teaching Suzuki and traditional violin and viola lessons for over 30 years. Teaching mostly classical, with some fiddling and folk music thrown in, Kelly likes to work with all ages and abilities of students, in a laid back, but detail-oriented style. She brings out the best in her students through games and other approaches that help her students build technical proficiency while exploring the creative side of making music. Many of Kelly’s students have participated in workshops, area orchestras, and festivals, including the Suzuki Association of Minnesota graduation recitals, Greater Twin Cities Youth Symphonies and Minnesota Youth Symphony orchestras, All- State orchestras, and summer music festivals. Kelly’s students have been scholarship and honors recital winners and received top honors ratings at area competitions. In addition, her students are regularly appointed to honors orchestras and have assumed positions of leadership, including concertmaster and section leaders, in the orchestras in which they participated.
As a professional musician, Kelly has been a member of many orchestras, including the Dayton Philharmonic Orchestra, the Dayton Opera Orchestra, the Richmond (Indiana) Symphony Orchestra, the New Hampshire Music Festival Orchestra and the Arlington Symphony and McLean Orchestra in the Washington DC area. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in violin from the University of Cincinnati College – Conservatory of Music and has Suzuki training through book 6 (violin).
